Kununurra is a town at the frontier of the exciting East Kimberley and The Kimberley Echo covers an incredibly diverse area. From the grandeur of the mighty Ord River scheme and Lake Argyle’s elusive barramundi fishing spots, to the allure of the Argyle diamond mine and their world famous sparkling Argyle pink diamonds. It is also the gateway to the breath-taking Bungle Bungles and some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia.
The East Kimberley has fast become a tourism hot spot having collected numerous tourism awards over the past 10 years, it’s a regular haunt for locals, tourists and a variety of notable dignitaries from all over the world guests to experience the unimaginable and explore its vast ruggedness and natural wonders. Purnululu National Park was also recently listed as a World Heritage List.
Kununurra in home to over 8,000 residents however the population explodes to double that figure during the May to October dry season. The Kimberley Echo provides a comprehensive weekly coverage of all the news in the area and is the only newspaper in the East Kimberley.
